I have often wondered abou this funny thing, the Ogre.
At once, Ogre seems to embody qualities from Fairie, pre-christian magical reality as well as a definite unhealthy abrahamic depravity.
It really appears then, that the Ogre is of a Medaevel origin, when French was still an imaginative language, Troubadours sang their praises to feminine beauty, and Cathars travelled the spheres.
Yes, maybe that’s it. The Italian tales are full of crazy ogre stories. Back then French was different, the Occitaine language was very rich, the language of Troubadours. It’s a whole thing, the praising of the feminine. People were slaughtered for it. Only the so called chaste Virgin could survive that slaughter.
There are times when I just feel like a stranger, I don't belong in this world. The language of the Troubadours was I believe, like this, where I am left with a wonder of where it came from, the incredible wealth, even current of multiple meanings. It takes me back to the Green Language. Understand the riddle or thine head is forfeit!

Fascinating indeed.
