BALANCE, PEACE, CREATIVITY——
THE POET UNDER THE TREES, HAPPILY OBLIVIOUS TO THE ITERATIONS OF WAR AND POLITICS. PERHAPS AWARE OF ITS SHADOWS, BUT FINDING REFUGE BENEATH THE TREE, LISTENING TO THE BIRDS…DREAMING.. AS CHAGALL DID WHEN HE ESCAPED OPPRESSION AND FOUND HIMSELF IN PARIS… THAT’S WHAT I’M DOING, THIS AUTUMN EQUINOX…SITTING UNDER A TREE LISTENING TO THE BIRDS…
MARC CHAGALL
Marc Chagall- born in the small town of Vitebsk [Viciebsk, Belarus] in the Russian Empire, the eldest son of a poor Jewish family. After training in Saint Petersburg, he moved to Paris in 1910, where he painted "The Poet with the Birds."
A man in traditional Russian clothing seems to float as he lazily daydreams, staring up at the white birds in the tree. With the new freedom Chagall found in France, his work became increasingly dreamlike, anticipating Surrealist art of the 1920s and 1930s. A movement in both literature and visual art, Surrealism aimed to tap into the subconscious mind, often through dreamlike imagery.”
I'll write it out again. While I'm not political I feel there is little to hold up either with Soviet Russia or present day Russia although to be quite fair the old Russia did what it could for the rank and file people. It is a federation and any of the republic can succeed from it then why attack Ukraine!? However anyone who's ever been there has never cared for it
The surreal school-can I call it that?
Is there another in fine art that is more focused on dreams and dreaming?
I am still impressed with the fact that famous artists find inspiration in this fleeting world, and thus continue to ignite query and exploration in a way that fascinates and captivates both imagination and subtle faculties.
